Art Deco Stuff

I'll be adding links here over time regarding a specific type of art. I'm a fan. The arts, the architecture, and the cars.

I need to read this later:

"Someone You Can Trust" Synopsis

Brenden sleeps away his stress. Life isn't worth living. He doesn't wish to die, but he's afraid to make any more mistakes. He's through with making his own decisions, and sees fate as the only way to move along.
The people around him are distant. Frankie gets into all sorts of mischief. Violet reserves herself to the real people, those who can benefit from her presence. George, Whitney, Victoria—all these people are strong individuals; Brenden is the exception. But no one's out to save him. Brenden's journey begins with him saving himself, an adventure set in motion by the one who has always had his back: his shadow.

"The future is a blind leap."

The genre is drama/scit-fi/thriller. The humor is subtle because the main character is very focused. He traverses time after experiencing an encounter with his soul, who's job is to convince the main character that his life isn't governed by fate, but by the choices he makes, and to make life worth living. The concept isn't solid, but time travel itself is a thrilling experience, and the other characters make their own adventures durin the film, details of which have yet to be written.
The film is for those who appreciate it. I'm not aiming to make a blockbuster, I want to exercise and show off my skills in filmmaking. My target audience is those who like movies for what they can be, not simply an entertaining means of passing the time. I intend to engage them, more than just merely amuse them. And I need my movie poster to reflect this.

Cool Posters, Brah

For the movie poster project, we have to "research" existing art boards that we like. My selection includes real and fan-made material, because sometimes, new artists can do it better. ;D ...or because I like the specific interpretation they took. It's purely subjective. Other than that, all I have to say is I haven't seen all the movies, but most I have, so I either find them fitting to the film, or they're designed so well (for various reasons) that I couldn't turn it down. Movies are slowly becoming my life, so this is a topic I take seriously, yet am no stranger to cracking a joke about it.

Instead of uploading a collection here, because viewing a mass of photos here sucks, I sent them off to photobucket.

One Day, This Will Happen

I have written of a movie for several months now. It's in a journal I carry around, and on Evernote. I've described characters, scenes, acts, shots, locations, ideas, plots, subplots, and all other details of the sort. I'm not here to share that with you, just here to inform you that it exists.

My teacher wants us to create a movie poster. Obviously, we have to have a movie in mind, and apparently it can't be an already existing one. Luckily for me and my real desire to make such a thing, I'm a step ahead. In fact, my previous poster, with Alandria, is in fact a scene I wanted to include in my film. Therefore, the poster can also act as a real movie poster. But I didn't feel it was strong enough to act as one, so I modified it. Changed the tone, colors, added some blur to correct the viewer's focus, added a block of credits and its title, and bam, movie poster.

I more recently was given an instruction sheet concerning the details of the poster, so I'll have to make some changes to it. But for now, at least I can still say I'm a step (or more) ahead.

Alandria is Complete

It just occurred to me that I never posted my final result of my project. I'll assure you it was turned in on time, completed. And here it is.

I hope the composition pleases your eye.

Artist-A-Day: Jane Gardner

So, this has been floating around on tumblr. I like it.

It's very simple and creative, and my 2D Design teacher would also appreciate it. This shows rhythm and progression, and doesn't need anything else to provide the viewer with. The use of high contrast illustrates the power of the message, and the low contrast areas coincide with a dreamy state. Pretty obvious, my sentences are.
Here's a link to the rest of this artist's work.
I want to make stuff like hers one day.
ps. I don't know how often I'm suppose to post these things.

BG Sketch

Just drew this in like 5 min.
It is meant to be unsettling, as an event just occurred.
My biggest challenge will be to illustrate the overturned table; I have to disobey the perspective. Goody!

Again, it's just a sketch, it doesn't have to make total sense.
